Director

Angela Atkinson

Angela Atkinson has joined the North Metro Denver SBDC as the Center Director.

Angela has a background in consulting to small businesses, nonprofits, and governmental entities.  She has held leadership positions with nonprofit organizations and owned a consulting business providing mentorship in marketing, research, strategic planning and leadership development in Southwest Colorado for more than 15 years.

In addition to her consulting practice, she owned her own business specializing in digital marketing, website development, and photography/videography.  She is a strong believer in the power of compelling storytelling, and loves helping small businesses uncover and amplify their authentic voice through their messaging.

Angela has been an active member of local governmental boards and councils throughout her career.  She holds a BA in English from Montana State University and an MBA in Nonprofit Management from the University of California Haas Graduate School of Business in Berkeley. She’s also studied abroad and volunteered with international organizations assisting refugees.

Assistant Director

Raul Lopez

Raul Lopez serves as the Assistant Director at the SBDC, contributing to the management of marketing, budgeting, training programs, and other essential aspects for small businesses’ success.

His interest in assisting small businesses stemmed from his experience in building a personal training business that eventually became a successful gym with over 250 members. This journey provided him with insights into the nuances of the business cycle, fostering a comprehensive understanding of entrepreneurs’ challenges and opportunities.

Raul’s expertise lies in teaching key business concepts, especially in sales, marketing, and brand building. Drawing from his background in gym management, he brings a distinctive perspective to the SBDC, aiding small businesses in navigating growth and development complexities.

Recognized for his ability to build teams and relationships, Raul combines creativity with technological know-how. His skills in identifying improvements and addressing challenges contribute significantly to the SBDC community.

Client and Program Coordinator

Michelle Flores

Michelle Flores is the North Metro SBDC Client and Program Coordinator. Michelle’s role includes managing client and consultant scheduling, marketing, and facilitating program projects.

Michelle joined the North Metro SBDC in December of 2019 with an excitement to join “people who help people” build and grow their small businesses!

She has a personal passion for small business, as she helped her son build his own vehicle wrap and decal business from the ground up. She understands the blood, sweat, and tears that go into building a business.  Therefore, Michelle appreciates the fact that the North Metro SBDC offers help to new and existing businesses grow and prosper by providing FREE and confidential consulting and no- or low-cost training programs.

Michelle has an established reputation as a team and relationship builder who enjoys working with people; blending creativity with technology; skill in identifying improvements; and resolving challenges.
